About the IU wireless certificate for eduroam and IU Secure

Overview

The root certificate authority for eduroam and IU Secure is "USERTrust RSA Certification Authority", issued by InCommon RSA Server CA. If you are prompted to validate or trust this certificate, do so. The certificate is very common, and should be loaded on most devices by default.

You may need to update or remove out-of-date wireless profiles if you experience authentication issues. These instructions note specific details about various operating systems.

macOS and iOS (including iPhones and iPads)

Android

  • If you have specified a certificate authority in your wireless profile, you'll need to update or reset the wireless profile. To update your wireless profile to validate the new certificate authority, see Connect to the IU wireless network in Android OS.
  • If you have not specified a certificate authority in your wireless profile, you should not experience issues.

Windows

Linux

  • If you have specified a certificate authority for validation in your wireless profile, you will need to update or reset the wireless profile. To update your wireless profile to validate the new certificate authority, see instructions at Connect to the IU wireless network in Linux.
  • If you have not specified a certificate authority in your wireless profile, you should not experience issues.

Chromebook

  • Chromebooks cannot validate the certificate, and should be configured not to check it; see Connect to the IU wireless network using a Chromebook.
  • To remove the wireless profile, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, select the network name (eduroam or IU Secure), and then click Forget.
