Apple has discontinued support for QuickTime for Windows. Although Indiana University still supports this legacy software, media content owners should use alternative media delivery methods. Because QuickTime for Windows no longer is updated or maintained, the University Information Security Office advises uninstalling it, as the software may expose your computer to security threats.

The Indiana University Podcast Portal supports the MP4 and MOV multimedia container formats, as well as MP3 for audio. UITS recommends using iTunes or VLC Media Player to play these files.

The Podcast Portal also supports MP3 format for audio-only media files. iTunes, QuickTime, and VLC fully support MP3 files. All portable media players also support MP3 playback, as do most mobile phones.
