Registering your computer
If you are an IU student, faculty member, or staff member, you must register your computer's MAC address before you can access the IU network with your wireless computer. For instructions, see Registering your computer on the IU network.
Secure connections
IU Secure
IU Secure is a new IU wireless network for IU students, faculty, and staff that uses WPA2 Enterprise (WiFi Protected Access) for authentication. You will not need to use a VPN connection when you are connected to IU Secure, and you will have full, secure access to the Internet and IU services. For more, see About IU Secure. For help connecting, see:

VPN
If you're connecting to the "IU Wireless" network (not "IU Secure"), you must use the VPN (virtual private network) for authentication and encryption. The instructions below will help you configure your computer to make a VPN connection. For more information, see The basics of VPN at IU.

If you are visiting IU
If you are visiting IU and don't have an IU Network ID (username and passphrase), you can request a Network Access account that will allow you access to the wireless network. You don't need to register your computer or configure it to use IU's VPN as described above. For more information, see Network Access account basics.
An agreement between IU and Purdue allows visitors from Purdue to access the wireless network as they would on their home campus. See Wireless access at Indiana University and Purdue University.
