ARCHIVED: At IU, how do I set my Caller ID telephone to ignore the area code on some incoming calls?

On the single- and two-line Caller ID telephones in use at Indiana University, you can enter area codes or prefixes that your phone should ignore for incoming calls. When you enter an area code or prefix using this feature, your telephone will remove that code or prefix from incoming numbers that are logged in the caller's list. For example, if you enter your area code into this option, all calls in your area code will appear in the caller's list with the area code stripped off (the area code will appear in brackets after the number). This should make it easier to identify local calls. You can enter up to three separate area codes or prefixes, each up to seven digits long. Single-line telephones

To enter area codes or prefixes

1. Press the Set Options key.
2. Press the arrow up/down key to scroll to number 7, or press 0 and 7 to go directly to the item, and then press the * key.
3. Enter the area code or prefix and press the Save key. Repeat this step for each area code or prefix you want to enter.
4. When you are finished, press RLS.

To delete or edit an area code or prefix

1. Press the Set Options key.
2. Press the arrow up/down key to scroll to number 7, or press 0 and 7 to go directly to the item.
3. Press the * key. The first area code will be displayed.
4. Press Save until you see the number you want to change or delete.
5. Press the left arrow key to delete or change the area code or prefix.
6. Press Save, and then RLS.

Two-line telephones

To enter area codes or prefixes

1. Press the Set Options key.
2. Press # to enter the setup list.
3. Press the arrow up/down key to scroll to number 3, or press 3 to go directly to the item.
4. Press 3 again, then enter the area code or prefix using the dial pad, and press Save. Repeat this step if you want to enter additional area codes or prefixes.

To delete or edit an area code or prefix

1. Press the Set Options key.
2. Press # to enter the setup list.
3. Use the arrow up/down key to scroll to number 3, or press 3 to go directly to the item.
4. Press 3 again. The first area code will be displayed.
5. Press Save until you see the number you want to change or delete. If the first number displayed is the number you want, then continue to the next step.
6. Press the left arrow key to delete or change the area code or prefix.
7. Press Save, and then RLS.
